Q: What's FERROFLUID?

A:  Ferrofluid is a stable colloidal suspension of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. OK, what does that mean?, A magnetic liquid/oil.

  • The Geek Group has an 30 minute video on the basics of ferrofluid.
  • Wikipedia ferrofluid article.
  • FerroTec manufactures the EFH1 series of ferrofluid we use in our displays.

Q: How did you get the ferrofluid not to stain the glass?

A:  We have a number of different suspension liquids we use to prevent ferrofluid from staining. The easiest way for us to collaborate with creators, is to install ferrofluid in a chamber and then ship to creator to design around. This minimizes R&D for the project and preserves our trade secrets. The suspension liquids are NOT retail products and are NOT easy to use. If you have an idea for a display and need some help, shoot us an email on the contact page.

Q: Do you use homemade ferrofluid?

A: No, We use FerroTec EFH1 series ferrofluid. You can order from AmazingMagnets.com (USA) or First4Magnets.com (UK & EU)

Q: Can I Purchase wholesale?

A: Yes, please fill out our contact form with the subject "Wholesale", please include the display you are interested in and we will send you a price sheet.
